Weekend Retreat…

with 2 comments

This weekend I will be traveling…enjoying…relaxing…celebrating.
Cincinnati, OH.

  • Saturday I will be enjoying an early afternoon of watching Notre Dame kick-off their season against San Diego State.
  • Saturday evening I will be attending the Three Doors Down, Hinder, Finger Eleven, and Staind concert with Lori, and Allison and Matt. Concert was cancelled due to the lead singer of 3Doors Down having laryngitis
  • Sunday afternoon we’re heading to the Cincinnati Reds/Chicago Cubs game.
  • I will not be taking my laptop.
Instead this weekend will be used to just relax and have fun.
If you care to know what is going on, feel free to follow me on my TWITTER account.

    Anyhow, until Sunday night…Adios!

P.s I promise pictures by Monday.

    Third Day – Switchfoot

    with 3 comments

    Long time since I’ve posted.
I’ve truly been meaning to, it’s just life has been sort of crazy.

Anyhow, today while I was at work I received a tweet from @rjschaefer asking me how much he loved me, meaning he had something I was going to enjoy. He went on to tell me how he had two tickets to the Third Day/Switchfoot concert today, FOR FREE, if i wanted them.

Anyone who knows me, knows that I love Third Day.
    I obviously accepted…..

I have seen Third Day in concert many times, and I have to say, it was just an okay show by them.
    Switchfoot however…were incredible.
    It’s funny to me.
A long time ago I did not understand the buzz that was around Switchfoot.
    My roommate was hooked.
However, I just thought they sounded like any other rock band.
It was about that time that I was introduced to TWLOHA.
TWLOHA is an organization that is trying to seek the hearts and lives of the world, in hopes to speak truth, love, and hope in to the lives of all who they come in contact with.
It is through TWLOHA that I heard about who Switchfoot, and Jon Foreman in general, were behind their music.
Once getting to know them on that level, it seemed impossible to listen to their music and not fall in love.
I started to listen more and more and become more and more attached to not just their behind the scene lives, but how they lived that out through their powerful lyrics and inspiring musical talent.

This is from the concert tonight(I apologize for the image quality. The sound however is priceless):

By far my favorite song by Switchfoot.

    Be blessed!

    Let Me Love You

    with one comment

I just purchased the latest work from Third Day: Revelation.

I will go out on a limb and say this is my favorite of all of their albums to date. Their first album was amazing, and also their Offerings I & II. However, this album brings a different dynamic/sound from Third Day. Their lyrics are just as piercing as before, maybe even more so on a few songs.

Personally my favorite song on the album is Let Me Love You. If you know me, my heart, and my current “situation”, then you’ll understand that this song is pretty much dead on to everything I believe and feel.

    Let Me Love You
    by Third Day

Ever since the world around you shattered
You’ve been looking everywhere for something more
Sometimes you feel like your life doesn’t matter
    But it does
    I tell you it does.

C’mon let Me love you now
    C’mon let Me love you
And hold you through the storms
I will keep you safe and warm.
C’mon let Me love you now
    C’mon let Me love you
    And kiss away your tears
    I will always be here
    C’mon let Me love you.

Yesterday you found your heart was broken
And tomorrow doesn’t leave much room for hope.
Today you’ll find that My arms are wide open
And My heart, My heart is full of love.

Give up on all the other things
‘Cause My love can bring you more
And if you take a chance on Me
I’ll give you what you’re looking for.

There are some worship songs that seem to resinate inside of me more.
Some songs that I just feel a bit more connected.
For me, every time I hear At The Cross, I cry like a baby.
For some reason while that song is playing, or I’m singing it, I can see God like he’s standing right next to me. I can hear him like like I hear the pastor on Sunday mornings. I can feel him like I can feel the embrace of a friend.
    This song moves me….

What is the song that when you hear or sing moves you like no other song?

    Love Them Like Jesus…

    with 2 comments

Every time I watch this, I get chills.
    It’s not new.
Many of you have probably seen it.
However, it’s so easy for all of us to get caught up in “what we can do” and we forget about what God has called us to do.
    To love.
    Nothing more, nothing less.
Listen to this. Let it change your heart today.

Jon McLaughlin, a Sweet Waitress, & an Gibson Guitar

    with 3 comments

Last night my buddy Zach and II made my way to Indianapolis to see the Jon McLaughlin performance at the HardRock Cafe downtown.

The concert was a benefit concert for Riley Hospital for Children. Throughout the evening they sold raffle tickets for items that were donated by various supporting company’s. All proceeds were to go directly to Riley.

Before the show I was able to meet up with fellow blogger Jason Bean. It was Jason’s first time hearing Jon in concert. I believe his comments thereafter were something along the lines of:

I will be traveling wherever he is to see this guy

For me one of the smaller highlights of the evening was our waitress. A petpeave of mine is a terrible waitress. Megan was kind, sweet, and efficient. Throughout the evening Megan did however harass me to buy some raffle tickets. She was persistant, I have to give her credit. If you know me, you know that persistance always wins with me. I ended up purchasing five(5) tickets for twenty(20) dollars. To be honest, it wasn’t too hard to talk me into buying some with the benefit of the earnings going to Riley.(Again, if you know me, you know I spent a large portion of time in Riley growing up)

After Jon performed they went through and drew tickets for all the give away items. Some of the items were a Colts signed football, Indianapolis Indians tickets and hats, Tattoo gift cards($100 & $200), a Fender electric guitar signed by Jon and the band, and then the last item was a Gibson Epiphone electric guitar also signed by the band(there were many other smaller items not listed).

They had called all of the ticket numbers off and I had not won anything. However, the ticket drawn for the Gibson guitar had not been claimed, so they had to redraw(you can see where this is headed). They ended up drawing my ticket, exciting myself, Jason, Zach, and my waitress Megan. I have to give props to Megan by the way; I’m not sure I would have bought any tickets if it hadn’t been for her. So Megan, thanks!

Anyhow, enjoy the rest of the photos:

I still can’t believe I won this guitar signed by Jon and the band

Megan and I after I had won

Myself, Jon, and Zach after the show

    It was a great show!
