2008 Review in Photos

with one comment

I really have no clue where to begin.
2008 brought so many ups and downs that just the thought of going through and rehashing all of it freaks me out.
Regardless, 2008 was amazing for many reasons, and one in particular.

Thankful fors in 2008 in no particular order:
(clicking each photo will enable you to leave a comment and to enlarge a specific photo)

There are many more photo’s I could place up there; blog party, etc. However I have limited space and time.
Perhaps if I feel it, I’ll do a 2008 in Review part II.
I will say this, Twitpic made this a whole lot easier.

I truly never will forget 2008.
Each memory will be tattooed on mind and heart forever.
From the moment of 01/01/08, to the moment of all the tears I cried, to the moment I first laid my lips on Allison’s, to the moments soon awaiting me in the next few days.
2008 will be a defining moment of my life to come.

I could truly never be more blessed.

Here’s to 2009!

A, “we truly suck”, CHALLENGE…

“You are not here merely to make a living…You are here to enrich the world, and you impoverish yourself if you forget that errand.”

-Woodrow Wilson

Too often we get so caught up in doing things for ourselves.
We get a job with good pay. We pay our bills. We purchase tickets for a game. We take family vacations. We go through the local fast food joint daily. We throw old books out just to buy new ones.
We do these things because we enjoy them. Because we have learned that an “American” family does these things. The average American family throws out their old shoes when they buy new ones. I mean, who really wants old shoes, right?
Don’t get me wrong, we have to pay our bills, and feed ourselves and our kids. Sure, sometimes the latest electronics will help us accomplish more of “our” goals.
But really, why are we truly doing these thing? For the status? Is it really for the need and for the good of God’s Kingdom? Or is it more for our own selves?
How much more are we truly capable of doing, yet sit on our hands and not do?
How much more are we expected to be doing?
While we are spending our money on new computers, iPhones, HD tv’s, cars, books, our 10th pair of shoes, another shirt from another high end store, there are many people who are struggling to feed themselves and their children. There are people who have no car, no house, can’t read because they can’t afford the cost of schooling. There are people who need treatment, whether it’s medical, emotional, or spiritual, and cannot afford it.
What are our responsibilities to them?
Don’t take this as one of those blogs postings where I’m calling everyone out, minus me.
No, take this as me calling EVERYONE out, including, and especially, me.
I’m tired of wanting more, when I have more.
I’m tired of always just praying for my needs, when God has more than blessed my needs.
I desire so much more.
He desire’s so much more.
It can start with simply praying on behalf for those who are hurting or less off. However it cannot stop there. If we intercede for those who hurt, for those who are struggling, yet do nothing in our actions to help those, then we are simply doing nothing at all, but recognizing the issue.
The issue has already been recognized for years by many christians who have the ability to solve these issues, yet the issues continue to be present.
The true change will start when we REACT in a physical manner towards these happenings
It’s time we start to take a stand for the true injustice’s happening by ourselves.
We are the CAUSE, and it’s time we finally stop saying, and start doing.
It’s time for us to not be the cause, but to finally stary being part of the cure.

How can/will you start being part of the cure?

Election 2008 – Praying Backwards @

with 2 comments

8 We are pressed on every side by troubles, but we are not crushed. We are perplexed, but not driven to despair. 9 We are hunted down, but never abandoned by God. We get knocked down, but we are not destroyed. 10 Through suffering, our bodies continue to share in the death of Jesus so that the life of Jesus may also be seen in our bodies. 11 Yes, we live under constant danger of death because we serve Jesus, so that the life of Jesus will be evident in our dying bodies. 12 So we live in the face of death, but this has resulted in eternal life for you.

2 Corinthians 4:8-12

Tonight over at Los’ held a “Praying Backwards” service.
It was a live video feed on Mogulus.
People from the Northeast United States to the Southwest United States

The prayer was powerful all the way through the evening

The most powerful of the moments came when the McCain voters prayed for Obama, while the Obama voters prayed over McCain.

It was absolutely incredible to see a community that has been torn apart from this election, against God’s will, come together to praise God and pray for all involved regardless of which political party you support. To recognize that we are a nation under God, serving ONE God, loving ONE God, and giving all of we are to HIS will and HIS way.

As we go into the late night of Monday, and head over into Tuesday, Election Day, let’s be steadfast in prayer for our leaders, their families, the voters, and the future of God in this nation.

Let’s end with this video:

Feel free to post your prayer or thoughts here.

Let Me Love You

with one comment

I just purchased the latest work from Third Day: Revelation.

I will go out on a limb and say this is my favorite of all of their albums to date. Their first album was amazing, and also their Offerings I & II. However, this album brings a different dynamic/sound from Third Day. Their lyrics are just as piercing as before, maybe even more so on a few songs.

Personally my favorite song on the album is Let Me Love You. If you know me, my heart, and my current “situation”, then you’ll understand that this song is pretty much dead on to everything I believe and feel.

Let Me Love You
by Third Day

Ever since the world around you shattered
You’ve been looking everywhere for something more
Sometimes you feel like your life doesn’t matter
But it does
I tell you it does.

C’mon let Me love you now
C’mon let Me love you
And hold you through the storms
I will keep you safe and warm.
C’mon let Me love you now
C’mon let Me love you
And kiss away your tears
I will always be here
C’mon let Me love you.

Yesterday you found your heart was broken
And tomorrow doesn’t leave much room for hope.
Today you’ll find that My arms are wide open
And My heart, My heart is full of love.

Give up on all the other things
‘Cause My love can bring you more
And if you take a chance on Me
I’ll give you what you’re looking for.

care for the soul vs. the “investment

with 5 comments

A blog I frequent had a great post today.
The blog would be, Mark Stegall’s.

Mark is a church planter with a heart to serve and love.
Currently Mark and his wife are part of a church plant in Cleveland, OH, called Church of the Hills.

Check out Mark’s blog post here: care for the soul vs. the “investment”

What does your church care more about? The investment? Or the soul?
