Root Canal take II

with 4 comments

If you follow me on Twitter, you have heard.
(If you don’t follow me, now is a good time to start: @vagabondrunn)
I hate the dentist.
It’s true.
I don’t care if he did get an award for being the town’s “Finest” in 2008.
I just DO NOT like going to the dentist.
Last monday I went for a routine Root Canal
One thing I’ve learned over the years is that when it comes to going to the dentist and myself, nothing is ever routine.
They got in there, told me there would be NO pain.
There was.
I was to raise my hand if I felt pain, which turned into me about raising my hand so fast that I punched the ole’ doc in the face.
What it turned into was me having an infection in my gums, so they couldn’t finish. They told me to take these meds and come back a week later. A “routine” 2 hour procedure now turned into a 170+ hour procedure.
Seriously, I HATE the dentist.

On a lighter note.
I received an email this afternoon from @rjschaefer with this photo of one of the students in the church turned into a Dialogue Promo…
(Just a side note to the promo; It is by no means a literal statement. It is the words that came out of the students mouth, which in return was used as a humor promo for Dialogue. No harmful or put-down type intentions were meant)

What is it that you just HATE to do??

Wall of Me

leave a comment »

We started a new series at Dialogue this past week.
The series title is simple; NEXT.
In an excerpt from a paragraph of defining this series Ryan says this:

“Everywhere I go, there I am.” –Anonymous

It’s true. Look around. This is where you are. Our soul feels it, and, for most of us, it’s not where we want to be. Unachieved goals, forgotten dreams, and unfinished “To-Do Lists” all testify to our desire to move—to accomplish, to make progress. This is where we are, but we dream of being there. The challenge, then, is to move from where we are to where we want to be.

Here’s the video we started out with this week….

I know I struggle daily with how to get from here to there.
I’m excited for the next few weeks, desperately hoping for some direction.

What’s NEXT in your life?

2008 Review in Photos

with one comment

I really have no clue where to begin.
2008 brought so many ups and downs that just the thought of going through and rehashing all of it freaks me out.
Regardless, 2008 was amazing for many reasons, and one in particular.

Thankful fors in 2008 in no particular order:
(clicking each photo will enable you to leave a comment and to enlarge a specific photo)

There are many more photo’s I could place up there; blog party, etc. However I have limited space and time.
Perhaps if I feel it, I’ll do a 2008 in Review part II.
I will say this, Twitpic made this a whole lot easier.

I truly never will forget 2008.
Each memory will be tattooed on mind and heart forever.
From the moment of 01/01/08, to the moment of all the tears I cried, to the moment I first laid my lips on Allison’s, to the moments soon awaiting me in the next few days.
2008 will be a defining moment of my life to come.

I could truly never be more blessed.

Here’s to 2009!

The past few weeks at Dialogue we’ve been discussing the topic of “emotion”.
Good emotion.
Negative emotion.
What it means to truly feel.
What it means when we lose the ability to feel.
We’ve been discussing type of emotions;

  • love
  • joy
  • sadness
  • depression
  • anger

    And many more.
    Yesterday PR brought up passion.
Why should we be passionate? What should we be passionate about? Who should be passionate?
In discussing these things, he showed us this video.

I’ll leave the comments and opinions to you.

    What was your first thought?

    Production Team Name/Shirt(s)

    with one comment

Okay readers, you get first glimpse and first chance for suggestions on something I’ve been working on.
You get to see these even before Ryan does.

    Let me explain…
Recently in a post I asked for suggestions on a name for dialogue’s production team.
Not many of you chimed in, but for those of you who did, thanks!
Anyhow, today in our Monday morning meeting we discussed a way to get the kids of dialogue church more active and taking more ownership in the ministry.
The credit for this idea goes to Kim, our chidrens ministry director.

[click on the thumbnails for a close-up of the image]

By allowing them to really take an ownership and have a ministry they can call their own will be huge. The photo is just something quick I pulled together. The shirt should probably be adjusted more for the younger generation.
    It’s just an idea.

Anyhow, I also designed one for the adult team.

    There they are.
    Our production team shirts.
Some of the ideas were taken from other church’s and the design of their production staff shirts.
Let me know what you think, and also any suggestions you might have.
This is anywhere from a finished product(e.g. the color is the wrong color of green).

What’s your opinion? Lay it on me, I can take the truth!
