stripped of everything

We’re All In This Together

with 3 comments

Found this video via our worship leader Ashlee’s facebook…

I don’t know about you, but this broke me.

It convicted me.

How much we take for granted.

How much we throw away.

How much we ignore.

What we are doing IS NOT ENOUGH.

It can’t be.

What will you do to make a difference?

  1. when i see this vid, it shines a very bright light on my self-absorbed life. i’m not sure what i’m going to do, but i want how i approach life to be different a year from now than it is today. i want to take more risks in Jesus’ name and join those who are attempting to change the name of Christian in the world.

  2. I hate that.
I’ve said for years that if people would worship God like we dance, sing, and carry on at concerts what an awesome experience that would be.
If we would feed the hungry with all of the money we spend in Las Vegas we could conquer world hunger.
    If…

    Great post. No, excellent post.
    Have a great weekend, Kyle.

  3. I have watched this video about 12 times. Afterwards I’m always saying “God, I’m sorry” with tears running down my face. Justice has always been really close to my heart, but I always thought that I was too young to do much of anything. But I have judged so many, I have been so selfish, I have looked past people that I should have stopped to help.
I think that people commonly think that helping others means that they will have to give up something, that it will “cost us” something. Yes, it might, but is it really our own to begin with? God sent Jesus to bring peace and justice. In Amos it says, “7-9 Woe to you who turn justice to vinegar
and stomp righteousness into the mud.
Do you realize where you are? You’re in a cosmos
    star-flung with constellations by God,
A world God wakes up each morning
and puts to bed each night.
God dips water from the ocean
and gives the land a drink.
    God, God-revealed, does all this.
And he can destroy it as easily as make it.
He can turn this vast wonder into total waste.
10-12People hate this kind of talk.
    Raw truth is never popular.
But here it is, bluntly spoken:
Because you run roughshod over the poor
and take the bread right out of their mouths,
You’re never going to move into
the luxury homes you have built.
You’re never going to drink wine
from the expensive vineyards you’ve planted.
I know precisely the extent of your violations,
the enormity of your sins. Appalling!
    You bully right-living people,
taking bribes right and left and kicking the poor when they’re down.
13Justice is a lost cause. Evil is epidemic.
Decent people throw up their hands.
    Protest and rebuke are useless,
    a waste of breath.”

I think God wants us to be happy as a people. He wants to bless us and see us prosper, but it sickens Him to see us turn away the orphan, widow, and foriegner.
“21-24″I can’t stand your religious meetings.
I’m fed up with your conferences and conventions.
I want nothing to do with your religion projects,
    your pretentious slogans and goals.
I’m sick of your fund-raising schemes,
your public relations and image making.
I’ve had all I can take of your noisy ego-music.
When was the last time you sang to me?
Do you know what I want?
    I want justice—oceans of it.
    I want fairness—rivers of it.
    That’s what I want. That’s all I want.”

    God, I’m so sorry.
